I am pretty well-stocked, so that wasn't a problem. I did have to leave the house, I had promised my 5yo grandson I'd go to his soccer game. We were recently sick, just bad colds, but we got along just fine. One thing we also have that helps is Lysol spray disinfectant. We spray phones, doorknobs, computer keys, etc.

This was an interesting day. I felt really stir crazy in the house all alone by my self. My husband had to work a 17 hour shift today and was going to come home for a quick dinner, but realized that if he were to come home then he would be quarantined as well. I was grateful that we had a large supply of toilet paper, but realized we need to stock up on paper towels aside from what we keep in our pantry. I love being outside and doing things. When I'm cooped up in the house all day long, all I want to do is eat my comfort foods--bad idea. I need to branch out and find things in the house to do to keep my mind off comfort foods until we start having kids to keep me busy.

My family has been ill. So, it has been like it been for the last couple of weeks. I had to leave the house prior doctor appointment. Came home then left for a viewing. Other than that I stayed home taking care of the sick.
I will have to get stock back up on the storage items.
thanks this is been such a great experience

I can't say we did the best job. I had to go out this morning for a prior commitment.
So when i got back we started. I am in houston so we are already afraid of swine flue. we have tons of hand sanitizer but no masks. I have medicine but no stomach medicine for kids. Do they make stuff like that? I had chicken soup. I guess i should get some 7-up and always have popsicles for fluid. That might have helped if it was real.
All in all this challenge is hard to feel until it is really happenening. i am sure just thinking hard about it helps as well.

I'm glad that a couple of years ago, I switched to family cloths, cloth napkins, cloth handkerchiefs, etc. Except for the family cloths, these are things my mom had to use because there weren't much by way of disposables available. But she used cloth diapers and washcloths to clean bottoms with. Washed and hung to dry.

I use more "natural" medicines like vinegar to disinfect. It makes life simpler. I can buy a whole 100 count bottle of Acidophilus capsules for less than $20. at the health food store. I keep it in the fridge. When someone has tummy troubles, I give them 3 capsules. If they're not feeling better in about 15 mins, I give them 3 more. Because they are capsules, I can open them and mix it into applesauce and the babies will eat it. You can't overdose on it and it won't cause "the plumbing" to back up like so many of the commercial products can do. I babysat a 9month old girl who had been up all night with diarrhea. Her mom couldn't even get the 5 miles from her house to mine without having to change her again. I gave her one capsule poured into a tablespoon of applesauce. In 15 minutes, I repeated the "dose" and she didn't have any more trouble.

We have been sick at our house so today was pretty real. My doctor was out of the office anyway so I pulled out my essential oils. Then reality set in. I had no idea how to use them. By the time the day was over I had used them several times and several ways. I have more, much more to learn.

Pretty easy day today, although in reality I had no kids throwing up or complaints. I know there are a lot of people getting the H1N1 and that would completely change every aspect of today. Looking forward to tomorrow and a new challange. Thanks for helping us get prepared.

Awesome challenge! While I had meds, I could of used a backup of each. And needed some otter pops. The kids ate them all a few days ago with the California heat. Overall, not bad.

This was one of those days that was relatively easy for me because I have done this before and know what to expect. I came home from the hospital with a new baby to four throwing up kids. I had plenty of comfort foods, mostly easy on the stomach food. I had chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, eggs, jello and 7-up. These lastedt for the time period that the illness lasted. I am glad we got the chance to do this because it is always a good reminder of things I could do much better. This whole exercise is a great experience. Thanks for taking me along for the expereince.
