We like to purchase 5 gallon buckets for the long term food storage foods. You can add in oxygen absorbers, bay leaves, etc. to help with preservation and to prevent bug infestations. We haven't covered it in great detail on the blog yet but it's definitely something we will be getting more into this year!

I love your website! What a wonderful tool. I was wondering if there is anywhere you address the best way to store long term food storage to make it last the longest. Do you use Tupperware containers? Leave things in their original packaging? I'm sure it depends a lot on the product, but I thought you might have talked about it somewhere and I missed it. I just want to make sure my long term storage lasts as long as possible because I'm sure we won't rotate it as frequently as our 3 month supply. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!
