My brother does Dutch oven cooking in his backyard! He uses BBQ charcoal briquets. He just has a small patch of dirt that he dug a small hole in and does it that way! It is really tasty! I haven't attempted it myself yet but I will try!
I have a question, do you know what is the best way to store bags of sugar and how long it keeps?

I am with Jodi on the ‘long term meal planning’. My consistency has a lot to be desired. My family would be ecstatic if I were more organized with meals. But the days go by so fast and if I am working on my site – well – you know.

One of my goals is to actually get a years worth of wheat and powdered milk. I’m not a member of the LDS church so I haven’t been able to go to the cannery. My local cannery in Bridgeton, MO requires you to go with a member of the church and I don’t know any members. Buying wheat and powdered milk at regular non cannery prices is expensive when you want to get a years worth. I also really would like to use my dehydrator a lot more and have a better garden this year. I would like to dehydrate and can as much as I am able. We are also going to get chickens so we have a supply of fresh eggs. I know in an emergency something could happen to the chickens, but they sure will be nice to have. I also need to plan better and organize properly. I also need to keep a log of what I have. You girls are so helpful. I appreciate you sharing your endeavors with us. Thanks.
