I have noticed some of my boys clothes waste bands being looser. I thought
it was just because they are getting old. Could be the heat of the attic.
Dang.

Watch for elastic in baby clothes and kids' hand-me-downs. I lost a lot of clothes by putting them in hot attic space, in my eagerness to get them out of the way. You can always replace elastic, but it is a hassle. Synthetics can change colors too.

Most do need major renovation. Most trusses and rafters are not designed to support a roof and large amounts of storage. Good luck

Having suffered this particular problem, go back through your Christmas storage bins and make sure you pulled all the Christmas candles out. We had unheated/uncooled attic space off a bonus room in Ft. Wayne IN many years ago. We put all the Christmas decorations in that space in January and by the next December all the cute shaped Christmas candles had melted into interesting deformed shapes. Just a word to the wise if you have Christmas candles as a part of your decorations. :)

My hubby had to lay all of that plywood and he also nailed boards across it so we could stack things in tiers. It was a lot of work but he was determined :) I am grateful to have all of our bins of baby clothes, Christmas decorations, and keepsakes out of my hair!
