Excellent idea--I have been stressing storing several months' worth of food for a while in my food writing. In my new book What Recipes Don't Tell You, I devoted a section called Disaster Preparedness to this topic, listing all foods and equipment a cook should stock so even in case of disaster when supply trucks stop running, the cook can feed the family healthy and flavorful foods for months.

My son is on a mission in Hawaii and he was evacuated. He didn't have much time to grab anything but he filled his suitcase fast and then went to pick up the bike missionaries. It was pretty intense and Hawaii stores were actually limiting some food items to only so many per customer as people were emptying the shelves (saw that on the news). Those who have the food in an emergency won't have this problem and can concentrate on other things. There is so much wisdom in so many ways to food storage. I do believe it's inspired.
