The links are there as a convenience in case you are looking at the document on your computer rather than in your binder. For your children, you can email them a copy of the pdf to go with their printed binder so they can more easily access the links. Otherwise, all of that information can be found on our website, and we have tried to leave notes as to which section they can find it on within the printed page. Hope that helps a bit!

We don't specifically tell people to dump it down the drain We figure that people will use it, drink it, water plants, etc. whatever works best for them on their own. It's definitely true though, no need to waste such a precious resource.

HI! Love the blog, the help, the ideas etc! Just received BabySteps Chklist #26 and I have a “suggestion”. It's bothered me before but kept putting off saying anything, but I've not seen it anywhere else on the blog.

Many times I have seen your suggestion of rotating/updating 72 hrs kits etc water supply. Please, water is in short supply in many areas – instead of saying “Empty your water containers” how about suggesting that they fill a new fresh one (or purchase one for 79 cents at Walmart), and use the “old” one for watering plants, the garden, the car radiator (if you don't use antifreeze), the cat/dog waterbowl, the fishbowl, the bird feeders, mopping the floor, etc.

How about: flushing a toilet in extreme circumstances, washing your face, hands, hair, teeth, handwashing undies (again in extreme emergencies), washing the dishes when camping – I'm sure your readers can think of many other things – water is, and will continue to be, the ONE most important thing we store – so don't just “dump” it down the drain – USE IT!

Hello! thank you for all of the work you have done to make it easier for me and others to make the “Big Picture” into a “Snapshot”. I am one of those that has been comepletely overwhelmed with the urgencey/importance of trying to have all the food storeage that my family needs. Even the 72 hour or 3 month kits have become confusing to me even with all of the research, word of mouth, some education that I have learned from. Thank You again for all of your hard work to help all of us. Could I also get baby steps 1,2,3,4 ? I didn't get them in my emails.

I just wanted to tell everyone how awesome this is! Our ward has been putting on food storage preparedness nights for a couple of months now and I have been one of the privileged to test the ideas and recipes of how to use your storage foods. We used wheat and grouned it up to thicken soups, slowcooked it in crockpots for breakfast or to freeze. Add it to anything.

In your 72-hour kit list, I would suggest adding the following:

* Power inverter (converts your cigarette lighter to a regular plug): great for charging cell phones. You can get these for pretty cheap at any electronics store

* Spare phone charger & battery for your current cell phone

* Old but still working cell phone with charger/battery (you know you have one lying around somewhere). These can still dial 911 even if you don’t have any service connected to it.

I also noticed that you had spare clothes for the kids, but nothing for the adults. We’ll need clean clothes too, or clean underwear at the very least.

Can you please send checklist number 3 to me again. Only some of the text on it will print and the rest is missing. I had no issues with my first two checklists but this one doesn’t seem to be working. I even tried waiting a few days and trying again but it’s still doing the same thing.

There you go again, brilliant as ever! We’re only up to a high of 54 today. So I’ll have to make sure I wear my sweater. I don’t miss Utah winters very much, but I REALLY miss the summers. They’re atrocious here. SO hot and humid. I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to it. Fortunately my girls have never known any different, so maybe they won’t grow up being as miserly in the summer as I am…

If your house isn’t an option for a meet up place (some kind of natural disaster), determine a close by place and determine the roads you will take to get there. That way you will be traveling the same roads and hopefully find each other somewhere along the way.
