July “Get it Done” Challenge: Car Kit Update

Get it Done Challenge
I don't know about your family but around here summertime means ROAD TRIPS. As we embarked on a week long-trip to California this summer I thought a lot about what emergency preps I had in my car. We have a basic car kit but I definitely want to make some additions/improvements. So we thought a lot of you may be in the same boat and wanted to focus on that for our challenge this month. Having an emergency kit in your car is something that can be life-saving in extreme cases, and sanity-saving on a regular basis. If you don't know what a Car Emergency Kit is or how to go about putting one together, make sure to read our DISASTER KIT / EVACUATION LIST PAGE for full details and…

MAY “Get It Done” Challenge: Make that binder

Get it Done Challenge
This month's "Get It Done" challenge is something that we feel really strongly about. In our Emergency Preparedness Plan we discuss having a 72 hour kit that you can grab and go in an emergency with 3 days of food and water as well as supplies. One of the key parts of that kit is to have an "Emergency Binder" full of all of your family's important documents that you would not want to lose should you not be able to return to your home. The emergency binder part of the plan is often neglected for any of these reasons: It's a hassle to collect all the documents You don't know WHERE all your documents are You worry about security You don't have a good binder, dividers, sheet protectors, etc.…

APRIL: “Get it Done” Challenge

72 Hour Kits, Get it Done Challenge
It's a new month and we are excited to announce the "Get it Done" Challenge for April. Have you been procrastinating getting your 72 hour kits put together? Do you have kits but haven't opened them for several years? Would you like to expand on your kits and make them better? Well this month's challenge is for you! Having spare clothes for your kids in a 72 hour kit won't do you any good if they are 4 sizes to small. Having food that is expired and/or inedible won't keep you alive for very long either. While either of those options is better than not having a kit at all, it's probably best to update yours! Your April challenge is to do at least one of the following THIS WEEK:…
