I have a Wondermill that was given to me already used. I was not the original purchaser. Some whole oats were put into it for grinding and it is all clogged up. I need to send it somewhere to get it fixed and I don't know where to start. Can you help me with that?

Our experience with the blend tec mills is that they are significantly louder, slower, and messier than the Wondermill. Readers have told us they have to use them out in the garage in a cardboard box just to contain the mess and noise. I was completely comfortable paying a higher price to get the WonderMill. It sits on my kitchen counter and gets used 2-3 times a week, even while my kids are napping!

I just was pricing mills and I had received information on a blend tec mill that is a lot less expensive than the wondermill and wondered what the difference would be. Anyone have any experience with both mills?

For emergencies I would not recommend anyone purchase an electric version of any appliance. My beloved KitchenAid mixer would be nothing but a counter decoration if we lost power; fortunately, I have the means to mix batter, dough and the like with non-power methods.

In order to do fine flour and cracked wheat as well you would need to use a manual wheat grinder. No electric mills have that capability. The Wonder Junior Deluxe would be a good option.

I want to replace my 35 yr old and broken well used wheat grinder. I don't see any that will grind all types of grains and seed (beans) into flour as well as cracking into cracked wheat for cereal. Is there any on the market that can crack wheat and make different grades of finess of wheat? thank you

Aloha Ladies! Just wanted to say Hi and let you know that my Wonder Mill Grain Mill just arrived today and I am so excited! I live in Hawaii and at times a lot of things take too long to get here. I like instant gratification when it comes to shopping. (((Money out of my hand and product right there into my hand))) But I must say that it got here FAST! My family and I are investigators and will be getting baptized very soon. We were in the middle of a lesson from the Elders when the UPS guy came to our door. I believe you need a manual grinder to make it coarse enough for cream of wheat. However you could try your electric mill on the coarsest setting and see if it works!

I found this from a forum.
—-You can't mill something very fine like amarynth in the Wondermill or it will get clogged up

Is this true? Also, some comments that the Wondermill dial does not do much difference. Although I will not need cracked grains, I do hope to have coarse flour from time to time (the bran flakes look nice). Will it produce flour like traditional whole wheat by Kingarthur.

PJ, I spoke with our WonderMill rep directly about this. He said if you
set it to the finest setting then popcorn works well to grind into corn
flour. However, since popcorn kernels are rather large, it can jam up the
funnel a little bit, so you just set it back to coarse to unclog it and then
back to fine again. He told us that he uses his mill to make corn flour for
tortillas quite often and it works great. Hope that helps!

I process acorns for food. Do you think that the opening where the nuts go into where they are ground on the wonder junior deluxe would be big enough to let a full sized shelled acorn in to be roughly ground up?

The stone burrs will grind wheat, beans, corn, etc. The steel burrs are needed to do oily things such as nuts, seeds, etc. You can purchase the clamp and/or steel burrs separately, just shoot us an email at info@foodstoragemadeeasy.net and we can work it out if that's something you want to consider.

One thing I don't get about wonder junior basic vs wonder junior deluxe: Will the junior basic only grind wheat but the deluxe with the bur heads will grind beans and other grains? I get that I would probably want a clamp to secure the hand wheat grinder but can I do without the bur heads?

Hi,
My toddler threw a dry pea seed into the grinder before I put it away. Can I safely turn on grinder and “grind up” the seed without hurting the grinder, or should I try to shake it out again before turning it on?

“BUY THE ELECTRIC WONDERMILL.”

Since “my” Wondermill went to Mandie Jensen (you lucky lady) I had to purchase another one!!! I ordered it last Monday (4/27) – it arrived Thursday (4/30) and my family enjoyed cornbread on Sunday (5/3). It was FANTASTIC !!! Look out Marie Callender. I know that cost is a factor in a decision BUT there is nothing like the electric. It took me 2 hours to get 2 cups with my hand grinder and 2 minutes to get about 20 with my electric. I’m hooked on electric!!!

Kristine, We normally recommend that if you are going to be using your food storage on a regular basis that you go for the electric mill. You can always get a hand grinder later as you get more into working on what do in cases of loss of power, etc. If you would just like a mill to have in case of emergency but don’t really plan to use it often, then the wonder junior would be the best bet. Burr heads are either stone or steel. If you use the steel ones you can grind oily things like nuts and seeds that are not able to be ground in traditional electric grinders. Hope that helps a bit!
