When we started our food storage journey, we realized the vast amount of information out there was so overwhelming.  We started this blog to share what we learned and accomplished along the way.  Welcome, come on in and find out how to get started!

Sign up for our BabyStep Checklists to get FREE printable to-do lists sent to you via email every two weeks. If you want all the checklists at once, you can purchase the Food Storage Made Easy Downloadable Binder and get instant access, plus all the site content, and tons of great recipes!

In all our research, we quickly realized being prepared for short-term emergencies was very important.  There are many things to think about when preparing for an emergency.  We have broken the process down into a few areas that will help you get a handle on things as you get started.

We developed the  10 BabySteps when we couldn’t make sense of all the food storage information out there. We realized that if we broke things down into simple sets of information we would be able to research and start trying different things bit by bit.

As we started working on our own food storage, we found ways to organize information into charts, videos or spreadsheets. In doing so we actually came up with a lot of tools that have really helped us accomplish our goals. We posted them here to share and hopefully make your life easier.

What would a blog like this be without a place for us to share with you products we love, use and recommend. Some of these products we have found online, developed ourselves, or even became dealers for in order to get you the lowest prices available! You will not want to miss this section.

Of course the best (and most necessary) part of food storage is actually USING it. Whenever we try a new recipe (and it turns out) we like to share it with you. Trust us, we only put up the ones we actually cook on a regular basis, so they have our personal stamp of approval!

I'd like to buy the rights that would allow me to make 4 binders for all of my children. But I'm a little confused as to what to print off to put in a binder. If I print off the 105 pages of the main binder info and put that into a binder, how much more will I be printing off with all the links? Will my kids have access to the links via their email? If not, am I able to print off everything throughout the year and give them additional info for their binders? If I buy the ebook binder, does that have all the email info already printed out?
If you could help me out with these questions, that would be great. Thanks

For those who do square foot gardening, I found this great link on another page and thought I would share it. When planning out your garden it is always nice to see what is going to be planted and take the guess work out of how many in each box.

hello i have been canning and storing for a while but I wonder what would happen if my freezer and majority of my meat lost power. Do you know anything about how much battery power i would need and then an inverter to plug it into. Or solar panel to charge batteries. I dont know enough about that and would like to know. Then i could have my own battery backup.

I think when I tried to shuffle the ingredients around on my list it made the calculations off. Even though I went back in and reentered all the amounts under each meal, it seems to be totaling wrong . Also, when I added Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks; those totals didn't calculate in.
Help! Do I need to start over?
    Thanks, Becky
  • Hey Becky, if you could shoot us an email at info@foodstoragemadeeasy.net we'd be happy to trouble-shoot your excel problems for ya. Thanks!

    Hi.

I found your website (which I think is great) as a link, searching for Mormons in Nova Scotia.

It seemed doubtful, the hockey connection made it seem somewhat more likely.

Do you mind me coming right out and asking where you're located?

I'm wanting to communicate with some members in that neck of the woods.

    Thanks.

  • Sorry Todd, we are located in Utah. Although we are both native Canadians born in Toronto so we do have a bit of a connection ;)
