After 18 years of Food Storage Made Easy, I’ve made the decision to put this little corner of the internet into what I’m calling “maintenance mode.”
When Julie and I started Food Storage Made Easy back in 2008, I never could have imagined what it would become. What started as two moms trying to figure out food storage turned into books, binders, checklists, challenges, Meals in a Jar, freeze-dried food, emergency preparedness projects, live cooking demos, and an incredible community of people who wanted to be a little more prepared.
It has been a HUGE part of my life for nearly two decades. But life looks different now.
I’m working full-time again, my family and career need more of my attention, and I simply don’t have the hours to run Food Storage Made Easy like an active online business anymore. The shutdown of Thrive Life also brought some major changes to another part of my business and helped me realize that it was time to simplify. So I’m giving myself permission to do that. ❤️
What does “maintenance mode” mean?
I’m keeping this website online because there are hundreds of articles, tutorials, recipes, checklists and resources here that are every bit as useful today as when we created them.
I’m just no longer trying to constantly create new content, run challenges, send newsletters, build funnels, manage promotions, or keep up with everything required to operate FSME as a full-time online business.
In other words: the library is staying open. I’m just not constantly adding new books to the shelves. 😊
What about the Thrive Life recipes?
When Thrive Life shut down, it left a lot of my recipes and cooking content in a weird spot. The good news is that the recipes themselves are still useful!
I’ve migrated all my freeze-dried food recipes and cooking resources over to Food Storage Made Easy. They can be adapted using comparable freeze-dried ingredients from other companies, so there’s no reason for all those years of recipes to disappear just because one company did.

The FSME community is staying too!
Our Facebook group isn’t going anywhere.
If you want to ask questions, share what you’re working on, get ideas from other members, or just hang out with people who understand why having 47 cans of freeze-dried food in the basement seems perfectly reasonable 😂, that’s still the place to be. I’m still there too. I’m just participating without the pressure of constantly creating new content or running the business behind it.

And what about me?
I’m not disappearing either.
After spending so many years talking almost exclusively about food storage online, I’m actually excited to share some of the other things I love too. Family, travel, adventures, preparedness here and there, and whatever else comes next.
If you’d like to keep up with me personally, you can find me on Instagram:
Thank you for 18 amazing years ❤️
This is the part that’s hardest to put into words.
Food Storage Made Easy changed my life. I learned more than I ever expected to learn, met incredible people, wrote books I never imagined I’d write, built things I didn’t know I was capable of building, and got to help thousands of families feel a little more prepared.
I’m incredibly proud of what we created here.
So this isn’t really goodbye.
The information is staying.
The community is staying.
I’m still around.
I’m just finally giving myself permission to stop trying to run Food Storage Made Easy like a full-time business.
Thanks for being part of this crazy adventure with me.
❤️ Jodi
