As we mentioned last month, in September we hosted a Seven Day Challenge on our blog where each day we all "lived through" a different emergency situation. One of the days was an EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) attack. It was a little bit difficult to find solid information on exactly what happens in an EMP and how we can protect ourselves from it. We had the book One Second After recommended to us several times so we decided to put out a group challenge to read the book and come back and discuss it together. Hopefully you will join us in this first-time event on our blog.

One Second Afterby William R. Forstchen

This thriller walks you through a fictional story that demonstrates what life would be like if an EMP were to occur. We don't want to get people too worried about this type of scenario, but instead want everyone to analyze their long term priorities should such an event occur that basically left you to fend for yourself for an extended period of time.

Purchase or borrow a copy of One Second After this week and aim to have it read by early November. We will announce when the group discussion will take place in a blog post a little later this month.
