Today we are featuring Freeze-Dried Chicken (in two varieties) and showing you exactly how WE use them in our kitchens. Being able to avoid thawing, chopping, and cooking chicken is the difference in being able to get dinner on the table in less than 20 minutes versus getting desperate and having to hit a fast food restaurant. While we have had freeze-dried meats as part of our food storage for a long time, it was only recently that we really began to see the beauty of using it as part of our regular dinner planning.
Chopped Chicken vs Seasoned Chicken Slices
Seasoned Chicken Slices are large chunks of chicken great for soups, Hawaiian haystacks, or any chicken marinade-type recipe where you want large chunks over rice, noodles, etc. These bigger pieces take longer to rehydrate so be aware of that or hydrate them before adding them to your sauce.
Chopped Chicken contains small dices that are perfect to throw into casseroles, pasta sauces, chili recipes, to make chicken salad or chicken roll-ups. These hydrate quickly and can typically be thrown straight into a recipe as long as it’s a little bit saucy.
