Using My Grocery List Sale Sheet

So I have ALWAYS wondered – IS COSTCO REALLY CHEAPER THAN WALMART? Well tonight- I put my sale comparison sheet from our 3 month food storage spreadsheet to use. I have been a member at Costco for years, but I only buy my chicken there. Mostly because I’m too lazy to cut off fat, and this chicken is always perfect with no fat. Anyways, every time I go, I look at prices and think, it’s probably cheaper at Walmart, grab my chicken and leave.

SO- I printed out my little sheet that tells me how much I usually spend for things at Walmart. Since I had the sizes and price per oz, it was so easy for me to decide which items to buy at COSTCO vs. WALMART. Anyways, I was really excited it was so useful.

Make sure you take a closer look at the spreadsheet and the tutorial and get yours started today.

There’s something not taken into consideration here: Costco sells many organic items that Walmart does NOT.  In fact Walmart carries very little in that deartment at all.  Dang hard to beat Costco prices in that category!

  • Your site is awesome! Thanks for all your hard work! I’ll be doing my 3 months plan before the end of the year!

No problem Tanya! We are so glad when people tell us they are using it, and that it’s helping them. Thats funny about what you buy at Costco – it’s almost identical to my stuff.

These are the things I usually buy from Costco: eggs, ground turkey, chicken breasts, tuna, ground beef, diapers and peanut butter. I was planning on checking on the price of their canned fruit as well. I have a large family (well, 3 teenage boys so large appetites, anyway) so I think we could use one of those #10 cans of fruit in a couple of days. When I go I really try to stick to my list and not impulse buy, I think the things I get are a better deal than what I could purchase them for at the grocery store.

I LOVE the 3 month spreadsheet! I spent hours Friday night putting in all the info and now I have it all neat and ready to be implemented. Thanks so much for coming up with it and sharing it.

Maybe I’m just leaving that part out so everyone can go discover the price differences themselves? Actually the list is in my car and I couldn’t remember off hand. I’ll update this soon. Most of the items were dairy and meat – not totally food storage, but if you freeze the meat, it can count in your 3 month food supply.

Now Julie, what ARE the cheaper things at Costco? You’re leaving us hanging! Inquiring minds want to know 😉 I need to know if it’s worth buying a pass and making an extra trip … although that chicken does sound incredible. I HATE cutting off fat from chicken.
