Saving on Groceries… MADE EASY!
![]()
For those of you who have followed our blog for long you would know I LOVED couponing, I DID couponing, couponing SAVED me a lot of money – UNTIL:
- I had another baby last winter
- Albertsons closed down (my primary store to coupon at)
- Red Plum (one of the coupon booklets) stopped coming in the newspapers
- I feared my neighbors got irritated at my piled up newspapers on my driveway
- I got super busy with life, blogging, life, etc
So for the last 8 months, I haven’t couponed. Each time I went to the store – I cringed because I knew I was wasting money. If couponing is still working for you, more power to you – keep doing it – and I applaud you. For anyone out there who needs an easier way -that you’ll actually do- without training, I have to tell you what I’ve been doing lately. I’ve been using a site called Deals to Meals, it’s so easy, I’ll tell you how I do it in 3 minutes.
In case you don’t like watching videos, or your computer is slow, here’s the summary of how I use Deals to Meals:
- I sign in and pick my state
- I choose the best deals from all 12 grocery stores in Utah
- The items are added into a grocery list
- I print the grocery list and bring that one paper to Walmart
- I price match and get the best prices from all 12 stores at one store
- DID I MENTION I ONLY GO TO ONE STORE!
- I pat myself on the back because I save a lot of money with virtually no work!
- I even sent my husband with the list once… and it WORKED?1?!?
*Check your Walmart for their policies -it’s worked for me at 3 different Walmarts
Like I mention on the video, there are a ton more services that Deals to Meals offers, like making meal plans based on sale items, and letting you know which food storage foods are on sale that week. Jodi will share with you how she uses them (after she recovers from having her baby any day now! I can’t wait to meet my darling little nephew…) After trying the service for just TWO WEEKS we both were so impressed we knew we had to share it with you all. Here’s how it works:
When we first heard of Deals to Meals, they were only in Utah, but now they are in 12 states! We hope they become national, because they are awesome. Even if you don’t live in one of the 12 states, the meal plans can be used wherever you live – so go and check them out FOR A FREE TRIAL, and don’t forget to tell them we sent you –

p.s. We became affiliates for Deals to Meals because we love their service so much and are way excited about promoting it!

I am soo signing up for this!
Darn, they aren't where I live yet but sounds really good !!!
can you only match prices like that on produce? or can you get the GREAT deals that you get at ALbertson's on fruit snacks and such at Walmart too?
Anything that has a sale price! I got loaded up on hamburger helper and soups and other pantry items.
I've never believed in coupons as they really only apply to processed and junk foods. Now that I'm gardening and canning and buying what I can't grow in bulk I'm eating better and saving more money than I ever could with coupons.
Not true. I get coupons all the time that are for produce. Also, for example, if the coupon says, “Good on ANY” of that item, it will work on organic.
If Walmart won't match prices without the sales ad from the store with the best deal, what should I do? Also, what if it wasn't in that store's ad, how would I prove the price at Walmart?
I can't wait until they come to my state- I even offered to help!
I am curious about how the price comparison works also, do you bring in the adds from the other supermarkets and show them those or do just show them the print out of prices on your list? Seems like a bit of work to have to show all the different adds to get the good price…hopefully you don't have a grumpy person behind you in line.
Her site is awesome, I live in Idaho and for the price you can't beat it!! And yes, Walmart has changed their policy in regards to coupons, they will now accept any coupons, tried it out on Sunday with newspaper and printed ones and they took them. Corporate office has received too many complaints and customers were taking their business elsewhere so they decided to change! But go check out Deals to Meals, you can try out the menu/ grocery part for $4.95 a month! I love it and passed it on to my d-in-law.
I didn't bring the ads, I just brought the print-out straight from the deals to meals website and it worked. Each Walmart may have different policies though.
I believe they get all of the sale prices from the ads in the paper, so you could use deals to meals to find out what you want to buy and print your shopping list, then just grab the ads for the stores you are planning to price match from. I believe they make all of their sale prices off of those store ads so you should be able to “prove” the price that way.
FYI Change in Policy @ Walmart –
Walmart 2010 Pricing and Content Info:
“Walmart.com does not price match with any other online or offline retailer. We strive to maintain highly competitive prices and review them regularly in order to serve you with great values, every day.”

That's for walmart.com, not for the Wal-Mart stores. Our Wal-Marts are still accepting price matching.
