1 can great northern beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
1 1/4 c. chicken or vegetable broth
1 c. favorite salsa or a can of Mexican stewed tomatoes
3 TBSP chocolate syrup
1 TBSP southwest seasoning
1 TBSP chili powder

Rinse and drain beans. Combine all ingredients in a slow-cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Special Notes:
The great thing about this chili is it has enough flavor to skip all the refrigerated toppings like cheese and sour cream.

  • We’re gonna try this one out for supper tonight. I carry Southwest Seasoning Mix in my product line and a Chocolate Peanut Butter sauce, which should make it even more like a Mole style chilli. The kids are really excited….we’ll see how it’s received….

I just looked on the internet and found a recipe from the Food Network for southwest seasoning at It looks like the recipe will make about 1/2 cup of seasoning so the extra can be stored for future use. Now I’m set to try the recipe.

Very interesting. I’m going to have to try this on hubby without him knowing whats in it.
