I ordered the download today, March 28th. After printing 55 pages, I had to put a new cartridge in the printer. Now, the download keeps returning to page 1. It will not allow me to pick up from the last page printed, nor will it allow me to print page by page. Help!

  • PatRobin

Jodi – Hi! This is Pat Robinson. I left a message on your phone, but I bet your read your e-mail more often. Would you like to help us on April 14th at 6:30 to teach about organizing your planting or even your cute paper cups. You would have 15 min. Shannon Mower will be teaching about container gardening. Then the committee will teach how to do seed tapes for self or for gifts. People will be bringing and planting their own seeds on paper towels. Then I am growing basil seeds to teach them how to transplant herbs and vegetables. I was planning on providing them with small solo cups to take home. The paper towel seeds tapes are easily put in the ground at the proper seed depth with a little dirt on top. A great time saver. They dissolve pretty quickly but also help to keep moisture for the seedlings. Please let me know by Saturday if you can help me. Thanks, Pat Robinson.

    Hello Ladies-

I just ordered the eBook download and it is not downloading. I’ve tried to “open” and “save” the file and both seem to hang up. I see that others have commented on this issue and you replied that you sent them an email about this, so if you could “send me an email” too I would sure appreciate it! Thanks!

Why do I need food storage that last for 25 years. My commercial canned food is good for 2 years or more Am I really not going to be able to get to a store for 2 years?

    Jan

    • Hi Jan, That’s a great question! If you are only storing a few months
worth of food then your regular canned goods from the grocery store
would be fine. Within a year or two you could rotate through it and
it wouldn’t go to waste. This is what we discuss in Step 3: Three
Month Supply. But if you are planning to store a full year supply of
food, you would have a lot of food expiring before you could ever eat
through it. Also there are many staple items that you can’t buy
“canned” such as bread, etc. So that is the concept behind having food
with a longer shelf life. Hope that helps!

Where is the cheapest place to buy mylar bags to fit in the 5 gallon buckets? How much is a good price also? I get my buckets from the pizza parlor.

I bought this book a while ago (last year maybe??) but I have not seen any updates. Are there any yet? Thanks!!

Would it be possible to place a tab to click on to get to your 3 month excel spreadsheet and your long term storage excel spreadsheet? When I tell friends about it being here they can never find it on their own. I would love to see more of them get their storage set aside so they don’t all show up on my doorstep when things get tough!

    • If you tell them to look under “site highlights” then “helpful tools” it lists all the best spreadsheets and stuff from our site. You can also get to that page from the little icon on the right sidebar of the main page. Hope that helps a bit!

  • Charley WO

Jodi and Julie, I have submitted my e-mail but haven’t received my check list yet. When I resubmitted my e-mail address it said you had it already and I’m just letting you know this because I’m looking forward to the check list. Thanks for what your doing.

My wife and I are trying to decide on a grain mill. We have your book and read the reviews. Have you or anyone following this post used the Grainmaker Mill? Any first hand experience with this brand would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just found your can organizers…what a fantastic product! Do you have any plans of adding the can organizers in an expanded width size that will accommodate the taller cans of, for example, spaghetti sauce and the ready to eat soups? Thanks 🙂

    Greetings!

I have just become interested in food storage and your system looks great. I have a couple of questions. Do you have reviews of your product that customers have written to share with potential customers? The updates that are included as a bonus, are updates sent out previous to purchase included, or only from the date of purchase?

Thank you! I must say that I admire both of your willingness to become efficient and purpose-filled women. I seem to be near the same age as you all, with children ages 6,4, 2 and 5 months. Do you all have any suggestions for household management, like chores, cleaning and the like? I have heard of the MOTH book, and that’s about all.

    Blessings,
    NeKisha

    • Hi NeKisha, We don’t have any formal reviews of our eBook, although we
have received a lot of feedback via email. One thing you could do is
go on our facebook page and ask people if they like it.
http://facebook.com/foodstoragemadeeasy When you get the free updates
you are sent the most current version of the eBook PLUS all of the
past bonus handouts that were included as previous updates. We have 3
sets that have gone out already.

As for household management and cleaning chores, I highly recommend
FLYLADY. Her system is free and awesome. She has a great facebook
page too. Google her, you won’t be sorry 🙂

I purchase the Food Storage Made Easy awhile back. We have since had our computer crash and lost it. Is there anyway I can get another copy?

  • Anonymous

Last night I spent an hour putting in 1 months worth of 3 meals and ingredients. I didn’t finish because I didn’t know how. Now I can’t find it? Is it stored somewhere? I couldn’t print out the computer one and don’t want to hand calculate it. Is it completely one or the other or eventually can I print the computer calculated one???

I didn’t receive my Babysteps Checklists #10,13 and 15. How do I get these re-emailed to me? I have #1-17 except for the above mentioned. I really enjoy your VERY helpful website and am looking forward to receiving them.
    Thank you.

If I do not have a way to down load a copy of your FSME binder can you mail copies? What would the cost be? Thank you.
    Nicole

    • We don’t have it available on hard copy. We have made a few copies of it on
discs that you can open up on your computer if you don’t want to download
from the Internet. Let us know if you are interested in something like that
and we can give you more details. Sorry! Email us at
      info@foodstoragemadeeasy.net. Thanks!

Although I have had home storage for many years now five years ago I found I must change most everything I knew. My husband was diagnosed with diabetes, type one. Suddenly all that honey, sugar and fruit was out the window. I had to figure out how to deal with so much, and sugars, carbs and fruit were now the “enemy”. During the last five years I have replaced all the sugar with “splenda” and Splenda brown sugar for baking and other use. Fruit must be dehydrated and I still have to watch for high sugar ones like pineapple. Diabetics must eat six times a day, they can’t have alot of the things we usually would snack on. There is also the the long term of storage for his insulin. We bought a small camping trailer which had a propane refridgerator, stove and oven, sleeps 6 and is self contained. We then worked with his doctor to set up his medications to be a little “extra” each time until we have close to six months set aside. We have a 1000 gallon propane tank set up for the trailer and can “move” into it at any time and live. We keep extra clothes, dishes, water etc, but we have it parked where we are less than 25 feet from the entrance to our basement storage. There are lots of reasons to invest in the future, the economy, a disaster etc, but please when looking at long term storage consider those family members who might have diet restrictions. Some other things you have to take into consideration are food allergies. I rarely see any one who has diabetic tips in there food blogs, it might be something we should think about….Oh, and NO ONE in my husbands family on either side had diabetes and he was fit and not overweight, even the doctor was suprised….

My storage now includes sugar free cake mixes, brownie mixes, sugar free jello and puddings. These satisfy the urge for comfort food. The brownie and cake mixes are from Pillsbury and in stores, they have outdone themselves and they are so good. Thanks for all the hints and links just wanted to let some of you in on the diabetics needs. linda foulke, Odessa, Missouri

    • Wow lots to think about! Sounds like you are doing great in your preparations. We are going to be doing some posts about different allergies in the future and this definitely helps with some things to think about.

I just printed out the last updates that were sent, and the headings of all of them are in another lanquage, but the content is in English

    • Send us an email at info@foodstoragemadeeasy.net and we can try to
email you another copy of the updates. It sounds like the file must
have gotten corrupted in your download or something. Or perhaps your
version of adobe is not recognizing the font that we used in the
headings. Try downloading the latest version of adobe. Hope that
      helps!

I’m using the 90 day excel spreadsheet, but I want to add an additional category across the top yet still have the spreadsheet calculate my totals. Is there an easy way to do this?

  • Got it fixed. Thanks!

  • Pam Hamson

I watched your video on canning chicken – which my wife has done severral times. My concern is that as far as I could tell you didn’t add any salt to the chichen you were canning. It is my understanding that you should use a half tea per pint and a tea per quart. We have successfully canned salmon, turkey, beef and chichen.

Keep up the good work, Pam Hamson West Richland, Wa

    • My canning guide said salt was optional, and if you do add it you need to use a special canning salt. I didn’t have any on hand so I went for it without salt. I’ve tasted it and it’s great so I think it’s ok either way!

  • Deb Howland

Did you know that if you store the ingredents in your food storage, you can make your own Hamberger Helper and your own Onion Soup Mix. With items that I always have on hand, I make my own.

  • Cathrine_lemaster

I really enjoy this site. Thanks for all of the information. I was looking at it and found Deals on Meals. I was really excited until Iooked closer. I’m on the east coast and it isn’t available here. Please be advised there are some fans on the east coast too. Keep up the good work.

  • Please email your request to info@foodstoragemadeeasy.net and we can help you from there. Thanks!

  • Spanishmiss430

I am new to food storage and very overwhelmed. I’m wondering if someone could help me out with a concern I have:
We are on a very strict diet (GAPS) that uses NO processed or canned foods. All our food is fresh or frozen – meats, veggies, fruits. The only things we eat that come in a package are pasta sauce that we make ourselves and can, coconut oil….wow. That’s all I can think of. No rice, no beans, no pasta, no flour other than coconut or almond flour. So if we stock away a lot of canned and packaged stuff – we would never be rotating it into our meal plans and eating it up, and it would just go bad – right? We avoid canned food (even veggies) because of concerns over BPA leaching from the lining of the cans. I don’t mind eating that kind of stuff in an emergency, but it’s not stuff we can rotate into our diet on daily basis. What’s a health-minded girl to do to store up food?

  • Spiceline Mom

Question: How do you get the lingering odor out of buckets given to us by restaurants and stores – dill pickles, frosting, etc.?
    I’ve tried bleach and vanilla.
    Thanks!

    • I think I’ve heard some people recommend a vinegar solution. Good luck!

    • Cathrine_lemaster

You might want to try baking soda. I use it for about everything.

  • Timch65

In the excel spreadsheet ‘food storage calculator’ the formula for ‘Day’s you will have food’ has a reference to ‘532’ … what does 532 represent??
The whole formula is – =SUM((K29+K37+K48+K59)/(532*(E10)))*365

  • Noelle

Hi there. I am considering buying your e binder with the intention of purchasing one for each of my family members if I like it. Is it possible for me to purchase my initial binder at th regular $17 price and if satisfied come back and buy the remaining 5-10 copies at the discounted price? In addidtion, if I know that I will be purchasing 5-10 of these and would like to place a large order of e binders on seperate disks is that possible? And at what price per disk? Thanks,

  • Barb

Wish I had your email… I purchased a grain mill from you on 1/3/11 and was wondering what the status of that was. The payment went through my bank on that day…Thanks for checking–really looking forward to getting it. Barb K

Please define the term “shelf stable”?

  • Tohna

I signed up for the newsletter but so far have not received anything. What is the normal wait time???

    • The newsletter and the checklists both should automatically send you a
confirmation email. Once you click to confirm, then you will receive
the first email right away. If you didn’t get a confirmation email
you may want to try signing up again. Please email us if you need
      more help. Thanks!

  • Tracie

Just signed up. Excited. It sounds like you strongly recommend the Wonder Mill Grain Mill. I was wondering which machine you recommend for mixing bread (and other uses) … Kitchen Aid, Bosche?

    • Tracie,

I used a kitchenaid for about 2 years and thought my bread was just
fine. I recently got a refurbished Bosch for a great deal and now I
will never go back to the kitchenaid. It just makes everything turn
out so much better. They are more expensive but definitely worth it
if you can afford it. Hope that helps!

  • Mrssarabennett

hi, I went to the food storage info I had on the computer and noticed I was missing food storage 3 & 4. Is there a way I could get those sent to me?

  • Kellenberger60

Hi, I finally got a new ink cartridge but when I try to download it wants me to buy the binder again. Help!

  • Lifeo2

I am trying to find non SOY non GMO source of food storage but seems like all is GMO and a lot of SOY ?

  • The cost per copy depends on how many copy permissions you are purchasing. Details can be found at the bottom of our product info page where you initially purchased the binder. Hope that helps!

  • Tammy Ward

Did you know that you can call the extension and request a free class for you and your group? (Church, neighbor, family, friends, etc.) They are coming to my house on Jan 13th at 4 pm. They will be teaching how to bottle chicken using our pressure canner. They will be teaching how to bottle beans and stew bases also. VERY COOL! I just thought I’d give you a heads up in case you didn’t know that.

  • Docaltman

Just thought I’d say hi, I was checking email and a friend sent me the WOW 2011 schedule and the holistic LDS conference schedule and saw Julie was speaking and the site sounded good. Then I saw Jodie’s comment on BT site from back in September and thought that was a weird coincidence. We may see you at the conference.

  • Kellenberger60

I thought I had Adobe reader but when I go to the site it says I can buy it. I don’t want to buy another computer program.

  • Kellenberger60

I am having the same trouble. It says you only get 5 attempts and I’ve tried 3. don’t know what to do.

Hi Ladies – I have to tell you that I’m fairly new to the Food Storage stuff (although I’ve had my 72 hour grab n go bag for over a year so I guess that’s better than nothing:) – I have happened across your site from somewhere else in my searching adventures and I love your site! Thanks for all the great information!!!

Just wanted to let you know that I’m using and am in love with your free 30 day meal plan spreadsheet. Another lady I was watching on youtube suggested that you pick 7-14 meals for dinner and repeat them over a 90 day period. I’m using that advise and applying it to your spreadsheet. I’m including everything down to a tablespoon of something. Now that I know how to use your spreadsheet I have changed the second tab to be my recipes for the meals that I have on the 30 day meal plan…that way I can 1) remember how to cook my meals in a survival situation and 2) make sure I didn’t forget any ingredients.

Thank you so much for this helpful information…when I get done with my next 8 days of recipes I’ll be able to print my spreadsheet and head to the store to fill my food storage…I’m so excited to FINALLY have a plan that I can wrap my head around.

    God bless you both!

Hi! I really like the concept of your site and I’m trying to follow the baby-steps, but being a dorm-living student so much of it isn’t really geared towards my needs. Have you ever thought about doing a student-version? That would be so appreciated! Hope you are having a great advent-time!

I am so having an issue with my downloaded cookbook. Of course it is a PDF file, and I have no clue how to update it by adding recipes to it to print out new ones. Can you let me know how to do this? It does not convert to Microsoft 2010 and I am lost. I do love it, and I use it constantly I just need to add to it.

I just bought my binder and can’t get it to download either. I am also afraid my printer will run out of ink before 110 pages go through it. Did you get help?

Hi Jodi and Julie, I found your website just this past week..and I love it!! I’m wondering if ya’ll will have any Christmas sales on the products you had on discount for black Friday? I’m anxious to find a good deal on a wheat grinder ect. Thank you!!

  • Calmigmo1

I have the wonder mill grinder which I ordered through your site. I’ve ground wheat and oatmeal to make flour but would like to know how to combine multi grains like flax seed, barley wheat oat etc. is there a percentage way to do it like 2 parts wheat one part oats etc to make a good all around flour. Thanks for your input.

Hi- I ordered the Wonder Mill Grain Mill Junior Deluxe from your site on Nov.26 and paid thru pay pal. I haven’t received a shipping notice yet. Could you let me know when it will ship. Love your site.

I just have to say…until last month I had wheat….I had some wheat in #10 cans, and various other grains. A couple of gals in our ward decided to have a Provident Living eat in. So the first Wed. of last month we went over (was my maybe, 2nd time to attend) and were fed some of the most magnificient food made with wheat…wow!!! Was I so impressed…absoutely. Came home, got out my wheat, made my wheat berries, phoned the neighbor converts up the street, told them about the site and found the blue book…well we didn’t stop there…oh no…had to download the cookbook. It is a daily in my home now. I have managed to use a number of the recipes for Thanksgiving which got “Wow’s” from the masses. Sent home Wheat Berry Salad; Glenna style to Michigan, and then created a new one the next day using tuna, my own rendition of creamy dressing, black beans, pasta, and it also was a huge hit. You girls have really brought using food storage full circle. I have never been so excited. I am not into Grandma Lorie’s project and excited to see what you are doing. But now it is off to bed. Have to make a trip to bishops storehouse in the AM (two hour drive). Thank you so much for all you do.

I have a question , do I get the binder or is it just stuff I download?

    • The product does not include a binder. It is a 105 page eBook and we give
instructions for how to put it together into a binder if you choose to use
it in that manner. Hope that helps!

I also am trying to purchase for $12, but it comes up as $17. What should I do?

I just purchased the binder, as well as some extras for my grown kids, and I was charged the full $17.00 for the first one. Is there a way to get my $5 back since it is supposed to be on sale this week? I used Paypal. Would love some feedback on this.

I put in my credit card information – thought I was checking out when the screen asked me for my password – I guess I didn’t know it, the screen told me to fill in my email and they would send it to me (screen had my email on it) – nothing came to me via email and now you have my credit card number and order but I have no clue if my order was complete or my credit card number is going to be misused.

    • Andrea, It doesn’t look like an order ever came through. We actually don’t
ever have access to the credit card information, that’s why we like using
PayPal, they manage that for us. Can you check your credit card and make
sure it didn’t get charged? You may need to just try making the purchase
again. It sounds like you may have a paypal account already and you just
need to figure out how to use that to process the payment. Or you can try
to get it to go through by selecting to pay WITHOUT using a paypal account.
Feel free to email us if you continue to have trouble. Thanks! I will
copy this response to your email too.

I want to buy the binder at the sale price of $12, but I have tried paying several times, using the coupon. Everytime I try paying with my Paypal account it says there has been an error and to try again. I paid minutes before for Deals to Meals and had no problem. I then tried paying with a credit card, but it says my email address is tied to my Paypal account and that I must pay with my Paypal account. I have a Paypal business account and use it daily, so I am not sure what the problem is. Please help!

My husband paid for the notebook with his paypal account and I am wondering how to have the information come to my email rather than his. I am not sure I want our email addresses posted here. Also, we do not do facebook and I am wondering how to get the extra information you talk about being on facebook.

Love your redesign! I was browsing around and found your emergency heater thing and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! It’s really a mess! Those little heaters use rubbing alcohol and they do not get hot–ever! they don’t release gas or carbon Monoxide. We’ve used them for years! Most of ours aren’t even in metal cans but foil wrapped cardboard baby formula cans. Alcohol is not like other flammables. Pour gasoline or kerosene into the TP and the whole roll of tp is going to burn! But rubbing alcohol evaporates and as it does so it burns. Not the whole roll soaked in alcohol just the part that is evaporating. Have you made one and tried it? You can actually run your hand across the top of the burning TP and it’s not hot, only the top of the flame gets hot. When I worked in a lab we always used rubbing alcohol in our Bunsen burners, very safe and never heat the container up, just the tip of the wick so we had heat where we needed it. I know he meant well but the extra stuff is not only not needed but it creates a toxic gas! You have a great site but this one is way off course!
