Halloween is almost upon us, thus canning season is about to move over to make room for BAKING season :) I was scrambling to finish up a batch of applesauce before I left on a vacation last week. I wanted to do a little video tutorial to add to the step-by-step photo instructions I put together a few years ago. Hopefully it is helpful for you if you are new to canning! My wonderful cousin Kaila got about 500 pounds of apples off the tree at her new house and was kind enough to give some to me. Since the apples were free and readily available I decided to attempt to make some applesauce. It was messy but a really fun family affair! Homemade Applesauce Recipe and Canning Instructions Step 1: Get your pot ready I used my biggest pot and put a little water in the bottom to keep the apples from sticking.
