One Second After: Group Book Discussion

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? It’s time for our Group Book Discussion. We are going to be discussing the book One Second After. We are hoping to get a good dialog going about the story itself, as well as some discussion about EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) attacks and how we can prepare for such a scenario. While there are many reasons “WHY PEOPLE DO FOOD STORAGE“, we can’t ignore some of the more difficult and scary reasons.

SUMMARY

One Second After: by William R. Forstchen
Every modern electrical device is dead, destroyed by an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack on the United States by unknown attackers. The United States has, in an instant, been thrown back into the 19th century; but the narration in the book points out that 21st century people do not have the knowledge or tools to live under 19th century conditions. The story shifts quickly to how the community reacts, and depicts some horrifying realities we may face in such a scenario.

In case you didn’t have a chance to read the book, here is a link to the wikipedia page on the book. You can get a quick summary and still join us. We do however recommend reading the book. It was incredibly eye-opening for us, and taught us a lot about different areas of weaknesses we may have.
